Despite the weather – and Fathers’ Day – being against us, our first ever One Fun Day still managed to raise £377.78

Held in Earl Stonham Village Hall and on the local cricket pitch, our One Fun Day was part of a series of RSPCA events happening nationwide on the same day to raise awareness of our work and money for local animals in need.

Thank you to everyone who helped.

To Jean, Kathy and Lynn for running the refreshment and Jean, Kathy, Sue and Denice for their baking and other lovely eatables, and Stephen for his soup.

The Dog Show was ably judged by Geoffrey and Carrie – the Society’s Interim Field Ops Director – and well supported by Daniel and Melayna running the registration stall. Skinner’s Pet Food at Stradbrooke kindly donated dog food vouchers to first, second and third prize winners as well as to Best in Show.

John, Yvonne, Kate, Caroline and Julie and Jill braved the intermittent rain and constant, frolicksome wind, to run outdoor stalls, including one showing the quality items available from our Stowmarket shop, and John and Yvonne’s ever-popular books, DVDs and jigsaws stall.

One key element was getting everything, from gazebos to bunting, from Martlesham to the lovely Village Hall at Earl Stonham. Huge thanks to Daniel, Melayna, Caroline and Stephen for logistics and transportation.

Also thanks to Ren & her partner for help on the day and the HQ Campaigns stall – which looked fabulous – and Zoe and Neil for helping unpack at the MAC afterwards.

More thanks go to the non-RSPCA stallholders who brought a great range of goods, and themselves made kind donations to us on the day.

It was also the first outing of our new, commercial strength, gazebo, which was immovable in the wind and proved itself – to the heart-felt relief of all of us – 100% rainproof!

This was a lovely event, in an area of the Branch where we’ve no track record of activities, so we hope this will be the first in a long line of successful events that raise lots of money for animals in need.
