Great result from Open Day & Fun Dog Show

It was great to have the first Open Day event after Lockdown and, although it was rather hot and a little quieter than pre-Covid years, we still raised a magnificent £2246.08 for the animals in our care.

Thank you to everyone who helped.

To Jean, Suzanne and Diane for running the refreshment and Mohammed and his great team for the BBQ. Many thanks to the kind bakers for the cakes and other lovely eatables.

The Dog Show was ably judged by Geoffrey, and Hannah from Skinner’s Pet Food at Stradbrooke, who also kindly donated doggy goody bags to first, second and third prize winners as well as a voucher for Best in Show.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped with set up, covering RSPCA stalls and take-down at the end of a hot but excellent day.

More thanks go to the non-RSPCA stallholders who brought a great range of goods, and themselves made kind donations to us on the day.

Our next event is an Autumn Craft Fair at Stowupland Village Hall on 16 October, and we hope to see you all there.

Huge thanks to the volunteers who covered the Branch stalls, helped with set-up and take down and to the bakers who turned out such gorgeous eatables.

RSPCA Christmas Fair 2018: felt reindeers - so cute

Christmas Fair cancelled

It’s with deep regret that we’ve taken the decision to cancel our Christmas Fair at Holbrook (21st November). We also cancelled our Quiz night, due to have been on the 24 October. Losing the two events will make a big dent in our income, as they are very well attended and raised almost £1,000 each last year, but the continuing dangers of the pandemic leave us no option.

We are trying to make up some income with online events, so please keep an eye on our website and Facebook for more fundraising activities.

Hopefully we will be able to resume our face-to-face events next year, but in the meantime, if you would like to make a donation to help us look after the animals in our care, we would be very grateful.

Our Virgin Money Giving page is here or, if you’d like to send a cheque, please make it payable to RSPCA Suffolk East & Ipswich and send it to RSPCA Animal Centre, Mill Lane, Martlesham, IP12 4PD.

Any amount you can give will make a difference – thank you.

Super supermarkets – thank you

Thank you to our local Co-op, ASDA, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco supermarkets, along with the SPAR in Felixstowe, for their support during 2019. By allowing us to hold supermarket collections in their stores, we raised a staggering £5,078.84 of much needed funds for our Branch.

This is a vital source of income, and we will be holding further supermarket collections in 2020. Details can be found on our website or at the back of our newsletter, coming out at the end of January.

We couldn’t do this without the unstinting help of volunteers who collect on the day. If you would like to help at any of our supermarket collections, please contact Ian Hendry on 01449 767747 (after 6pm) or via ian.hendry@rspca-ipswich.org.uk.

Fabulous final figure for feel-good Family Fun Day

Well the results are in and what a fabulous day we all had at our Family Fun Day. The sun shone, the crowds flocked and the total was awesome. We took £3638.50 on the day – an amazing 20% increase on last year’s total. Many thanks to everyone who came.

Congratulations to Zoe and the team for all their hard work, and a huge thank you to all our volunteers who assisted on the day. We certainly couldn’t do it without you.

Keep an eye out for more info on our next on-site event, our Open Day and Fun Dog Show on 2nd September.
