Great result from Open Day & Fun Dog Show

It was great to have the first Open Day event after Lockdown and, although it was rather hot and a little quieter than pre-Covid years, we still raised a magnificent £2246.08 for the animals in our care.

Thank you to everyone who helped.

To Jean, Suzanne and Diane for running the refreshment and Mohammed and his great team for the BBQ. Many thanks to the kind bakers for the cakes and other lovely eatables.

The Dog Show was ably judged by Geoffrey, and Hannah from Skinner’s Pet Food at Stradbrooke, who also kindly donated doggy goody bags to first, second and third prize winners as well as a voucher for Best in Show.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped with set up, covering RSPCA stalls and take-down at the end of a hot but excellent day.

More thanks go to the non-RSPCA stallholders who brought a great range of goods, and themselves made kind donations to us on the day.

Our next event is an Autumn Craft Fair at Stowupland Village Hall on 16 October, and we hope to see you all there.

One Fun Day on June 18

As part of the national RSPCA One Fun Day, we are looking forward to welcoming you back to our animal rehoming centre on Saturday 18 June to enjoy coffee and cake amongst the animals and summer sunshine! Come for a look around, a chat, and a yummy treat; all in support of animals in need!

Time: 11am to 3pm

All ages welcome. Lots of fun for the children. Parking at the Animal Centre.

Unfortunately, we cannot have dogs at this event, to keep our small animals happy and stress-free.

Family Fun Day raises over £2,000

We are delighted to announce that, despite the heavy rain, the Family Fun Day we held at our Martlesham Animal Centre at the end of May raised an astounding £2040.45.

It was brilliant to welcome friends old and new, and many thanks to all the staff and volunteers who made the event happen.

Christmas events raise over £2,000

Our quartet of Christmas events raised a magnificent £2006.20 for animals in our care. Many thanks to everyone who supported them, including those who helped on the day and those who provided prizes and lovely cakes.

Our stall at the Bury Christmas lights on 18 November raised an excellent £98.29, with many thanks to Petra, Jane and Ben, as well as Sue and Helen.

Our well-established Christmas Fair at Holbrook on 27 November raised a truly awesome £1320.64. Many thanks to our Hon President Sue Southgate and her team for handling the refreshments and to everyone else who helped.

The next day we took our Christmas items and new goods to the Stowmarket Christmas Fair where Red Gables Wellbeing hub kindly gave us a stall for free. Many thanks to Ian and Gill and Sue for standing in the freezing cold. We raised an impressive £158.05.

Our final Christmas event this year was our new fair at Stowupland Village Hall on Saturday (11 December). This was the first time we’d organised an event in the area and although it was quieter than we’d hoped, we still raised £429.22. Many thanks to Kathy, Maggie and her husband, Ursula and Beverley for their help.

Thanks to Rosemary who baked and sold cupcakes and other scrumptious items at both Holbrook and Stowupland, and donated the profits to our animals. And thanks also to Denice who has made and sold her delicious jams and chutneys on behalf of the Branch.

One final, huge thank you to Jean and Geoffrey who supported the events, baked and turned out to help.

It’s difficult to underestimate the importance of our volunteers. Without you all, these events, from Christmas Fairs to store collections, simply would not be possible. You make such a difference – Thank you.

We haven’t finalised our events for 2022, but if you think you might like to help out in some way, please contact Kate at kate.grimwood@rspca-ipswich.org.uk or on 07512 017016 or 01449 614057.

RSPCA Christmas Fair 2018: RSPCA goodies for sale

Our Lovely Christmas Fairs!

This year we are holding two Christmas Fairs and we hope you can join us!

Our long-standing Holbrook Christmas Fair is due to take place on Saturday 27 November, 10am – 2pm at Holbrook Village Hall. No soup this year but in addition to hot and cold refreshments, we’ll have RSPCA branded cards and gifts, raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac and some lovely craft stalls, including handmade candles and soaps, bespoke pyrography art, and homemade baked goods.

Stowupland Village Hall on Saturday 11 December is the venue for our newest Christmas Fair. Open from 11am – 3pm, the Fair will have refreshments, cakes and pastries, handmade wreaths, doggy treats and gifts, jewellery and cards. We’ll also have a tombola and raffle.

Entry to both our fairs is free and both venues have parking.

Open Day cancelled

Sadly, we’ve decided to cancel our Open Day & Fun Dog show, due to take place at our Martlesham Animal Centre on 5 Sept.

Although the restrictions are being lifted, Covid-19 is still a very real and potent danger, and we did not want to take the risk of bringing Covid into the Animal Centre after all the hard work that’s gone into keeping it out.

It will mean another financial loss, as the Open Day is one of the most popular events in our calendar, but we felt the risk was just too great.

If you could make a donation to help our animals through this difficult year, we would be incredibly grateful. Our Virgin Money Giving Page is here.

Josh is training hard for his Half Marathon!

Support Josh Crewe, who is running a half marathon on 26 September 2021 to raise £1,000 to help animals in our care. The pandemic restrictions have hit our fundraising events very badly, so many thanks to Josh for helping us raise money and awareness for our animals.

Josh is still working hard to prepare for his half Marathon in aid of our branch, and although the Great East Run may be cancelled, Josh is still determined to complete the planned route on the scheduled day and has been training most mornings to get himself ready for the gruelling 13-mile tour of Ipswich! With under 3 months to go, Josh has so far raised 72% of his £1,000 target.

To support Josh during his half-marathon, and donate to our cause head over to the Just Giving page below. Every donation big or small really does help In caring for our animals at our re-homing centre, and enabling us to run our vital welfare clinic in Ipswich.

Virtual Home Pet Show launches today!

Welcome to the RSPCA Home Pet Show, our all-animal virtual pet show designed to showcase our animal friends and our special bond with them.

The show is being hosted by RSPCA HQ, and the local Branch heats will run from Monday 17 May to Monday 14 June. Just choose our Branch when you enter and 100% of your money will come directly to us, to help fund our animal welfare work and support the animals in our care.

There are six classes, plus an art category, and it is £2.50 per entry. To enter, simply visit www.rspca.org.uk/onefunday

The classes have been designed to celebrate your pet’s natural behaviours, and your special bond with them. Our pet show doesn’t focus on looks – we want to hear the stories behind the images, the personalities of the animals and the special bond between pet and owner.

12 finalists from across the RSPCA Branch network will be invited to take part in the Live Zoom Final on 19 June, hosted by RSPCA CEO Chris Sherwood and our wonderful celebrity ambassador Sophie Craig.

Please also take the time to share your entry on your own social networks to let people know about your amazing pet and help us to spread the word.
