Get to know me…

Bailey came into our care following welfare concerns in his previous home.

Understandably Bailey has found the change very overwhelming at first. He is often found hiding away and could become defensive of his space. Over time, Bailey has begun to settle and feel more comfortable in his surroundings however does not want any physical touch by his people. These days we often find him quietly lounging on a soft blanket taking in the world around him at his own pace.

To help Bailey feel more relaxed we’ve started him on Gabapentin which has been beneficial for his wellbeing. This medication would need to be continued in his new home (we hope once he becomes comfortable in his environment he can be weaned off).

We haven’t yet seen Bailey’s affectionate side and we believe he still has a long journey ahead before he feels completely at ease with people. Because of this we’re looking for adopters who can offer him a calm and patient environment to give him all the time he needs to settle without any pressure for cuddles or affection. Any trust or affection Bailey shows in the future should be seen as a bonus rather than an expectation.

Due to his lack of experience outdoors, Bailey is seeking a more rural environment so that, when he is eventually introduced to roads, he can learn to navigate them safely.

As his breed may be prone to certain health issues in the future Bailey’s new owners will need to be prepared to manage these with the help of a vet if they arise.
